Welcome!
Hi, I'm Haiguang Wen, a science and technology lover. I am currently working at Nvidia Corporation as a senior deep learning research and development engineer in autonomous driving. Previously, I received my B.S. degree in Information Science and Electronic Engineering at Zhejiang University, China, in 2013, and received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, USA, in 2018. My career goal is to develop machines with human-level intelligence to benefit our society.
During the Ph.D. period, my rearch focus was on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and neuroscience to understand human brain and develop brain-inspired neural networks for artificial intelligence. I started the research under the supervision of Dr. Zhongming Liu, a neuroscientist enthusiastic about AI. The research experience helps me develop deep insights in human vision and sense the beauty of the brain. I also developed my knowledge and skills in machine learing and deep learning with the supervision of Dr. Eugenio Culurciello, an AI secientist. I like devoting myself to building infrastructures, designing models, analyzing data, training and evaluating models, and the most important discovering science and solving problems.
After graduation in 2018, I joined a research team on autonomous driving at Nvidia, located in the Bell Labs Complex in New Jersey. The team is dedicated to develop state-of-the-art models and algorithms for autonomous driving. My focus is on developing models and algorithms on perception for scene understanding, planning, and driving. As you can imagine, it is a super exciting job since it is the moment of applying artificial intelligence to cars that will be running all over the world. It is also very challenging since there are a lot of problems unresolved and requiring continuous and longterm efforts from both academia and industry. I'm glad that I've witnessed and contributed to the great progress we've achieved for the past years. I've been learning a lot in science and engineering from the exceptional colleagues (Dr. Urs Muller, Dr. Larry Jackel and others) and collaborators from New York University (Dr. Yann Lecun, Dr. Anna Choromanska and others).
I grew up at a small town in Meizhou, a city in Guangdong Province, China. It is a very peaceful, beautiful, and friendly city, also known as the capital of Hakkas in the world. Feel free to contact me if you want suggestions for a visit. I stayed in my hometown for 18 years until I finished high school. Then I started my college life in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province. It is also a very beautiful city and is famous as the global headquarters of Alibaba. In Aug 2013, I came to US for my Ph.D. I love to try new things, see different people and learn about different cultures. The last are some photos of my hometown taken by my friend Weiqiang Ye.
